Alert Bay, BC - home to our Community Liaison Researchers David, Lawrence and Lillian,
and the site of RRN Co-Developer U'mista Cultural SocietyLast week, I had the opportunity to visit the RRN crew at the
U'mista Cultural Centre (operated by the
U'mista Cultural Society, an
RRN Co-developer) in Alert Bay, BC. I arrived on Tuesday morning in the middle of a busy week and was grateful for the time I got to spend working with Community Liaison Researchers David, Lawrence and Lillian.
Lawrence and David Introduce the RRN to Pole Conservation Workshop participants
I was able to stick around just long enough to witness a great presentation to participants in a
Pole Conservation Workshop (presented by the Canadian Conservation Institute
in partnership with the U’mista Cultural Centre and Parks Canada).

The dozen-or-so participants showed great interest in the site. David and Lawrence fielded several questions, and there was quite a buzz about the room as the focus shifted back to the pole conservation workshop.

I am grateful to have been so warmly welcomed at by the RRN team at U'mista. This was an excellent opportunity for me to witness the ongoing and exciting work happening in Alert Bay. It will be great to have everyone together at the
Partner Institution Workshop next week when the Community Liaison Researchers from the other RRN co-developers can share the work they've been doing. Stay tuned for reflections on the Workshop in the next few weeks!
For now, take care!
