and the site of RRN Co-Developer U'mista Cultural Society
Last week, I had the opportunity to visit the RRN crew at the U'mista Cultural Centre (operated by the U'mista Cultural Society, an RRN Co-developer) in Alert Bay, BC. I arrived on Tuesday morning in the middle of a busy week and was grateful for the time I got to spend working with Community Liaison Researchers David, Lawrence and Lillian.
I was able to stick around just long enough to witness a great presentation to participants in a Pole Conservation Workshop (presented by the Canadian Conservation Institute in partnership with the U’mista Cultural Centre and Parks Canada).
The dozen-or-so participants showed great interest in the site. David and Lawrence fielded several questions, and there was quite a buzz about the room as the focus shifted back to the pole conservation workshop.
For now, take care!
Joanne
